Blockchain
Throughout the short history of cryptocurrencies, from the very first days of Satoshi Nakamoto’s original Bitcoin white paper, all the way up to the most modern crypto projects, such as Wagerr, blockchains and their accompanying coins have been built and designed to be adapted to meet the criteria of a rapidly changing world.
As time goes on and further developments are made with the blockchain, network protocol and client wallets, some features are added or adapted and some may need to be taken away.
To be compatible and continue to operate, users on the network need to update their client wallets for continual operation.
Why do I need to update?
If you are running any version previous to the 3.0.0 release, this is a mandatory update.
This release contains new consensus rules and improvements that are not backward compatible with older versions.
Masternodes will need to be restarted once both the (remote) masternode daemon and the (local) controller wallet have been upgraded.
Is there a deadline by which I need to complete this update?
The announced and advertised Wagerr fork is on the 26th July 2019. Ideally, any client wallets, daemons and masternode instances (both local and remote) should be updated before this so as to be able to continue normal service operations.
If the client wallets, daemons and masternode instances are not updated before the fork date, the older clients and wallets across the network will simply stop syncing blocks, as no live data will be relaying anymore. After the fork date, (and unless you update) no transactions will be sent, and any incoming transactions to the old wallet will not be seen or listed. Also, until the update is completed, you will not get Staking or Masternode rewards
If you update after the deadline with your currently used wallet.dat file, the wallet will then sync fully and you will be able to use the newly updated wallet normally.
Ok, now how do I update the WGR coin client wallet to version 3.0.0
The task is fairly simple and should only take 15 minutes or so to complete.
BEFORE making ANY changes to your WGR client wallet, MAKE SURE to backup the wallet.dat file from the Wagerr data directory. You SHOULD also back up the private keys for the addresses within the client wallet and store them securely AWAY from the computer., Do not disclose these private keys to ANYONE. Wagerr support will never ask for these.
There is a guide on how to do this at:
Mac OS
Backup your coins
Backup your wallet.dat from the file menu (and private keys if you have not already done so) using the commands in the guide that is linked at:
Now, shut down the client wallet gracefully - waiting for the wallet shutdown message to go away.
Find out the architecture
(You can find out if your system has 32 or 64 bit architecture from the ‘About this Mac’ tab) Apple Menu > About This Mac
You can also open this directly by holding down the Options key and choose Apple menu and then choose System Settings and onto the ‘System Report...’ button:
There is a guide to this provided by Apple support for more information:
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT203001
Now you know which version is required
Download the correct Wagerr client wallet Version 3.0.0 from https://github.com/wagerr/wagerr/releases which hosts the official latest releases of:
wagerr-3.0.0-osx.dmg - OSX 32 bit systems
or
wagerr-3.0.0-osx64.tar.gz - OS X 64 bit systems
Install the updated version. Once it has finished, start the wallet. It will now sync up to the latest WGR blockchain block height. This could take a little or a long time depending upon the last time the wallet was synchronized fully. Once this is complete, you will be able to see your WGR coins balance and previous transactions. The update process is now complete.
Windows
Backup your coins
Backup your wallet.dat from the file menu (and private keys if you have not already done so) using the commands in the guide that is linked at
Now shut down the client wallet gracefully - waiting for the wallet shutdown message to go away.
Find out the architecture of the machine
You can do this easily by typing:
About this PC
into the windows search pane:
A link will then display to the Systems Settings>About This PC information panel. Look for where is says
‘System Type’, as in the example is highlighted below.
Download the correct Wagerr client wallet Version 3.0.0 from https://github.com/wagerr/wagerr/releases which hosts the official latest releases of:
wagerr-3.0.0-win32-setup.exe - Windows 32bit system setup routine
wagerr-3.0.0-win32.zip - Windows 32bit standalone application (no setup routine)
wagerr-3.0.0-win64-setup.exe - Windows 64bit system setup routine
wagerr-3.0.0-win64.zip - Windows 64bit standalone application (no setup routine)
The Setup routines will run through and automatically install the wallet after setting a couple of options.
The Standalone files will need to be extracted and copied to the desktop or a folder of your choice and will need to be selected every time you want to run the wallet, if it is not left running constantly.
WGR Daemons
Backup your wallet.dat by manually copying from the WGR data directory. You should also backup your private keys with:
./wagerr-cli dumpprivkey <ION address>
You will then need to stop, update, and restart a WGR daemon. Refer to the guide guide at:

WGR Masternodes
To stop, update and then restart a remote WGR masternode, there is an upgrade guide at:
